Wind and rain in eastern China were so strong it ripped the roof off an airport in Nanchang, Jiangxi province. The storm and extreme weather also wreaked havoc in other parts of the province as well as China.

The riverbed on one of the Yangtze River’s major tributaries in east China’s Jiangxi province has been exposed due to drought. Water levels in the Gan River dropped below the 12-metre low-water mark in October.Jiangxi has been suffering from drought since July this year. Water levels at more than 30 hydrological stations in the region have dropped to record lows, state media reported.

With many pupils and teachers leaving for China’s big cities, student Jiang Haotian has become the only remaining child at his school. He’s still getting an education, however. Guonan has decided to stay and teach the seven-year-old to help him escape poverty, according to state media.
